Settings Guide

Settings Guide

How each Settings panel works and what it controls.

Layout & Navigation

  • The sidebar in Settings lists tabs: General, Organization, Teams, Storage, Cloud Providers, Performance, Models & AI, Data Management, Security, Account, Billing.
  • Tabs are lazy-loaded to keep startup fast; changes are saved per team unless noted.

General

  • System Health: Shows Postgres/Qdrant status and disk usage. Read-only check to confirm local services.
  • Global Defaults: In standalone mode, “Save as Global Default” captures the current team’s model/prompt/RAG settings for future teams.
  • System Logs: Pulls recent app logs for debugging; refreshable.

Organization & Teams

  • Organization: Org metadata, mode (Privacy vs Compliance), invitations, and high-level settings for cloud users.
  • Teams: Create/edit teams, assign members/roles, and connect storage choices. Team selection drives all other settings on the page.

Storage & Cloud Providers

  • Storage (per team): Choose local_only, app_managed, or byos. Cloud teams can set defaults; local teams stay offline.
  • App-Managed Region Selector: Pick a managed region when using Agency-hosted storage.
  • BYOS Provider Selector: For App-Managed or BYOS, pick which provider/bucket to use.
  • Cloud Providers: Org-level BYOS bucket management.
  • Validate credentials (AWS/S3-compatible, GCP, Azure), then add.
  • Credentials are encrypted client-side with the org key before upload.
  • Set default bucket; delete/update providers.

Models & AI

  • Presets: Bundled LLM + embedding pairs (Lightweight, Balanced (default), Quality, Reasoning, Multilingual). Balanced defaults to qwen3:8b + mxbai-embed-large.
  • LLM Selector: Choose from supported Ollama tags (phi4:mini, llama3.2:3b, llama3.1:8b, qwen3:8b/14b, mistral:latest, gemma3:4b/12b). Locally installed Ollama models also appear.
  • Embedding Selector: all-minilm, nomic-embed-text, mxbai-embed-large, BAAI/bge-m3, embeddinggemma:latest (+ legacy models). Changing embeddings requires re-indexing.
  • Required Models Check: Detects missing LLM/embeddings and can auto-download via Ollama.
  • Custom Model Pull: Enter an Ollama tag to pull; once installed it can be selected as the team LLM.

Bring Your Own Model (flow)

  1. Fine-tune or adapt a base model (e.g., with LoRA/unsloth). Export to an Ollama-compatible format (GGUF or Modelfile referencing weights).
  2. Create locally: ollama create my-custom -f Modelfile.
  3. Verify: ollama run my-custom "hello" to ensure it fits your hardware/context length needs.
  4. In Settings → Models, use “Add Custom Model (Ollama)” with tag my-custom (or any Ollama library tag) to pull.
  5. Select it as the LLM for the team. Embeddings must stay on the supported list; switching embeddings triggers a re-index.

Performance

  • Resource Budget Selector: Set RAM budget (GB) and CPU mode (battery saver, balanced, high performance). Updates apply to vector DB and processing tasks.
  • Advanced Index Settings: Tune chunking/index parameters (e.g., HNSW, quantization) for power users.

Security

  • Passphrase and session controls, logout, and security posture notes (local vs cloud).
  • Compliance vs privacy mode reminders flow from org settings.

Search & Chat Preferences

  • Configure history sync/retention, per-query limits, and cleanup behavior for search/chat histories.

Privilege & Audit

  • Privilege Defaults (org) / Team Privilege: Manage AI rule terms/domains for privilege screening and team overrides.
  • Audit Preferences: Org-level audit logging toggles and scope; Compliance Mode can broaden visibility.
  • Audit Log Viewer / Audit Report Dialog: View decrypted audit events (where authorized) and generate reports.

TEE & Cost Views

  • Settings TEE / Org TEE: Configure TEEs (provider selection, attestation expectations) when enabled for the org.
  • TEE Cost Dashboard: Summaries of expected/runtime costs for TEE-backed workloads.

Storage Performance & Regions

  • AppManagedRegionSelector: Pick managed storage region for App-Managed teams.
  • BYOSProviderSelector: Map teams to BYOS buckets and validate connectivity.

Data Management

  • Danger Zone: Delete all team data (documents, embeddings, chat history). Irreversible—intended for cleanup/reset.

Account & Billing

  • Account: View/update email (cloud mode), copy public key, delete account (clears session).
  • Billing: Subscription state, invoices, and plan management for cloud users.

Cloud vs Local Behavior

  • Cloud teams surface org-aware controls (storage, providers, audit, billing).
  • Local-only mode skips cloud fetches; models and data stay on-device; global defaults are set locally.
